Job Purpose
The Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing daily business operations, ensuring efficiency, optimizing processes, and driving performance improvements. This role involves managing teams, coordinating supply chain and logistics functions, ensuring compliance with regulations, and supporting business growth. The Operations Manager will play a crucial role in managing product ordering, inventory control, and fulfilment processes while leveraging technology and data-driven insights for continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Strategy & Process Improvement
- Develop and implement operational strategies to enhance efficiency and productivity.
- Identify areas for process optimization, automation, and cost reduction.
- Monitor and improve key performance indicators (KPIs) such as productivity, cost control, and service delivery.
- Implement lean management principles and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Ensure alignment between operational processes and business objectives.
Supply Chain, Inventory & Fulfilment Management
- Oversee the end-to-end supply chain, including product ordering, purchasing, receiving, and inventory management.
- Ensure accurate inbound processes, including buy-in procedures, purchase orders, and product receiving.
- Investigate and resolve discrepancies or errors in order fulfilment and inventory tracking.
- Ensure stock levels are optimized for both live sales and warehouse operations.
- Coordinate with suppliers, vendors, and third-party logistics providers (3PLs) to ensure seamless operations.
- Oversee fulfilment processes, ensuring smooth handover from show hosts to packaging and shipping via Shopify.
- Ensure all reporting on maintenance backlog, incomplete purchase orders, and outstanding received items is accurate and up to date.
People & Performance Management
- Lead, coach, and develop a team of supervisors, coordinators, and operational staff.
- Ensure shift-based workforce management to support live sales events effectively.
- Promote a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
- Conduct performance reviews and workforce planning to optimize staffing levels.
- Train and mentor staff to improve decision-making skills, communication, and confidence.
- Encourage employees to advocate for their ideas and take ownership of their responsibilities.
Financial & Risk Management
- Manage operational budgets, control costs, and drive cost-saving initiatives.
- Identify and mitigate operational risks to prevent disruptions and ensure business continuity.
- Ensure compliance with industry regulations, legal requirements, and company policies.
- Support business expansion plans, including new market entry and capacity scaling.
Customer & Stakeholder Management
- Collaborate with sales, customer service, and senior leadership to align operations with business goals.
- Ensure high service levels and customer satisfaction by improving operational efficiency.
- Negotiate and manage contracts with vendors, suppliers, and service providers.
- Communicate effectively with internal teams and external partners to maintain seamless operations.

Software & Technical Skills
- Experience using Cin7, Magento, and Shopify for order management and fulfilment.
- Hands-on experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central as an ERP system.
- Familiarity with warehouse management systems (WMS) and supply chain optimization tools.
Qualifications & Experience
Essential:
- Proven experience in operations, supply chain, or logistics management roles.
- Strong understanding of process improvement methodologies (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen).
- Knowledge of health & safety, compliance, and risk management.
- Experience managing cross-functional teams and external partners.
- Ability to work in a dynamic environment where leaders are not always on-site.
Desirable:
- Bachelor’s degree in Operations Management, Business, Supply Chain, or a related field.
- Certifications such as CILT (Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport), APICS, or Six Sigma.
- Experience in specific industries (e.g., manufacturing, retail, FMCG, logistics).
- Knowledge of sustainability practices and environmental compliance.
Additional Information
- Role may require occasional travel to supplier sites, warehouses, or distribution centres.
- Flexibility in working hours may be needed for global operations or crisis management.
- The Operations Manager will not always have direct oversight on-site and must rely on strong communication, decision-making, and problem-solving abilities to ensure smooth operations remotely.
